PLATFORMS & TOOLS FOR FREELANCE WORK

Platforms can help you find your first assignments, but they differ a lot in cost, competition and reliability. Instead of a list of names, here is a way to judge them yourself.

WHAT TO CHECK

  • What the platform takes in commission or service fees per assignment.
  • How and when you get paid, and whether there is protection against non-payment.
  • How much competition exists for your type of work and whether it suppresses rates.
  • Whether you are allowed to keep working with a client outside the platform.
  • Reviews and dispute resolution: what happens when something goes wrong.
  • Never pay up front for access to work. That is a classic warning sign.

STEPS

  1. 01Pick one platformOne complete profile beats five half-finished ones.
  2. 02Read the termsEspecially commission, payment terms and the rules on client contact.
  3. 03Build proofUse early assignments to collect reviews and examples.

We deliberately name no specific providers here. Whenever we do recommend something, we will state whether there is a commercial relationship.
