PLATFORMS & TOOLS FOR FREELANCE WORK
Platforms can help you find your first assignments, but they differ a lot in cost, competition and reliability. Instead of a list of names, here is a way to judge them yourself.
WHAT TO CHECK
- What the platform takes in commission or service fees per assignment.
- How and when you get paid, and whether there is protection against non-payment.
- How much competition exists for your type of work and whether it suppresses rates.
- Whether you are allowed to keep working with a client outside the platform.
- Reviews and dispute resolution: what happens when something goes wrong.
- Never pay up front for access to work. That is a classic warning sign.
STEPS
- 01Pick one platformOne complete profile beats five half-finished ones.
- 02Read the termsEspecially commission, payment terms and the rules on client contact.
- 03Build proofUse early assignments to collect reviews and examples.
We deliberately name no specific providers here. Whenever we do recommend something, we will state whether there is a commercial relationship.
