FIND SUPPORT

FOUR KINDS OF SUPPORT

Pick the one that matches your situation. You can use more than one.

Gambling Support

If you want to stop or reduce gambling, professional support exists and it works better than willpower alone. Treatment services and counsellors can help you build a plan, handle urges and involve the people around you.

In the Netherlands you can register with CRUKS, the national self exclusion register. It blocks your access to licensed online and land based gambling for a chosen period.

The Recovery Diary is independent and not affiliated with CRUKS or the Kansspelautoriteit.

Debt & Financial Help

If your debts are becoming unmanageable, free help is available. Residents in the Netherlands can contact their own municipality for free municipal debt assistance (schuldhulpverlening). You do not need to sort anything out before you ask.

The Recovery Diary is not a debt counselling service. We provide information and self-help tools only.

Mental Health Support

Financial stress, gambling problems and debt affect sleep, mood, relationships and concentration. If that is happening to you, speak to your GP or a qualified mental health professional. Your GP is usually the fastest route to the right care.

We do not diagnose, treat or provide therapy. Nothing on this site replaces qualified care.

Urgent Help

If you are in immediate danger, or you feel unable to keep yourself safe, contact your local emergency services or a crisis service now.

In the Netherlands, call 112 for emergencies. For urgent mental health support, contact your GP, or the out of hours GP service (huisartsenpost) outside office hours.

Do not wait for the right moment. Ask someone you trust to stay with you while you make the call.

NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF HELP YOU NEED?
